OldSchool Review #4: Birdhouse "THE END" Andrew Reynolds

THE END was the Pretty Sweet of it's time. Great skating, filming, and editing with just enough Hollywood to remain watchable. Willy Santos, Brian Sumner, Heath Kirchart, Jeremy Klein, and the boss Andrew Reynolds. This video came out in 1998! How crazy is that!? What an amazing video it really brings back the memories and actually makes me want to skate RIGHT NOW!

To me it just looks fucking ridiculous and uncomfortable. In my opinion the style in between this video and today was the golden years of skate fashion. Give it another 10 years and kids are going be boarding with assless chaps.

68. Andy S: In the early 90's the only thing cool in skating was anything world industries and it's sub companies, like blind, 101, plan b. The skaters on those teams define skateboarding till this day. Not much has changed since the questionable video, but before that video came out skating was undefined and still on a late 80's vibe. Birdhouse and Tony Hawk in that time frame where cast out and not looked at as cool because world industries hated Tony Hawk and anything that steve rocco said was deemed the trend. So birdhouse started off in this period of time, so props to Tony for keeping it alive and when the end came out Birdhouse finally got the respect they deserved. The first world video called rubbish heap was a really good video part for Jeremy Klein even though he has a weird style, he was skating really fast and doing things you just don't see. He was a really famous skater back then because of his shear talent. Just my two cents I started skating in 1987 and let me tell you how much it's changed. Especially from `87-92 skating progressed so much as far as new tricks are concerned it totally paved the way to what it is now. So this is where it stands now, skating hasn't changed much from the Plan B Questionable video from 92, only a couple tricks have been invented but not many. Also don't hate on vert skating, we all know it's scary and street skaters try to use being a "street skater" as an excuse for being too afraid of it. I don't think anyone is truly a "pro" if they don't skate vert or tranny for that matter! Just my thoughts into the last 30 years of skating i've witnessed.
